The Newstead and Annesley Country Park welcomes visitors - our full facilities will be open later this year.
| The Newstead and Annesley Country Park is a beautiful eco-friendly park just north of Nottingham. We are 5 minutes away from Newstead Railway Station and less than 10 minutes drive from Junction 27 of the M1.
We are a park with a difference. The park is run by Newstead Enterprise - a company created by the community in Newstead Village to help create a better future for ourselves. We are run by volunteers who care passionately about the village, the Park and creating a legacy for future generations. To date we have involved over 500 people in creating our Park and business elements, including people from the village, members of the wider community and many young people who have all been hard at work creating a brighter future for this community. The Park is 230 acres and is situated on the site of the former colliery pit tips. The whole area has amazing wildlife interest and the village is working with a number of environmental groups to protect and enhance the area, half of which is a ‘Site of Importance for Nature Conservation’. At the heart of our Park is our eco-build Education and Visitor Centre - based on the earthship method of construction - being a building which is pushing the boundaries of green technology and hand built by members of our community . Our Park is currently open to visitors and we are planning a series of guided tours carried out by members of the Village SOS team. Please check back for details We will be offering a great range of family and inter-generational events, activities and workshops including angling lakes, keep fit activities, family events soon. We welcome everyone to our park - and will gladly provide tours to other communities who want to find out what we've done and how - part of our vision is to help inspire other communities across the UK to set up similar ventures. The second Headstock Festival, created and put on by the Village SOS team will take place here from September 9-11th 2011. Please click on the box for more information. Please enjoy The Newstead and Annesley Country Park and if you'd like to get involved with the Park or any of our projects please do get in touch via our contacts page - we'd love to hear from you. ![]() |
